Manchester United and Arsenal will reignite their rivalry in a Sunday night Premier League showdown at Old Trafford. Mr.Bulister, the football match previews and betting tips guru, previews the clash of these Premier League titans.
Manchester United
Manchester United did the bare minimum and picked up a scrappy win against Leicester City. Even though the victory was not aesthetically pleasing, it added three points under the Red Devils’ belt and pulled them up to the fifth spot.
Erik Ten Hag is in the early stages of implementing his blueprint at Man United. After two disastrous defeats at the beginning of the season, the Dutchman would be delighted to see the response his team has produced. Three back-to-back wins, including one against arch-rivals Liverpool, have restored faith in the team and quelled the discontent among fans, to some extent at least.
Ten Hag fielded an unchanged side against Leicester. New signing Anthony was not on the bench, and the game might come too soon for him on Sunday as well. Casemiro might make his full debut against Arsenal, replacing Scott McTominay in the middle.
Arsenal
Arsenal head to Old Trafford sitting atop the Premier League table. It has not been a happy hunting ground for Mikel Arteta’s men as the Gunners won in only one of their last 15 Premier League trips to the red part of Manchester. However, the only win in those 15 visits came in the 2020/21 season, when the Arteta era had already begun at Arsenal.
Arsenal have won all of their matches so far this season and they will hope to continue that run when they cross paths with an under-transition Manchester United side.
Arsenal, however, have some big injury concerns ahead of the game. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are out, which makes Sambi Lokonga the primary candidate to fill in. The 22-year-old put on a stellar display against Aston Villa on Wednesday night. Arteta will hope he replicates that performance again. Oleksandr Zinchenko might be fit to feature after recovering from his ankle sprain. Captain Martin Ødegaard came off with a knock in the Villa game; it’s still unclear whether or not he will get the green light to play in the Man United game. Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is also a doubt after picking up a thigh injury.
Mr Builster’s Prediction
Arsenal will come to Old Trafford with a number of high-profile absentees. But, Arteta’s side still has significant firepower to punish a Man United defence that is still vulnerable on the flanks. Mr. Bulister expects a high-scoring game at Old Trafford and a 3-2 win for Arsenal.
