Wolves tasted victory for the first time this season as they won 2-1 against Preston in the EFL Cup. Bruno Lage would hope this win will motivate his team to fight for all three points against Newcastle at the Molineux Stadium. The Magpies will be a bigger test of Wolves’ mettle, as they come off on a remarkable 3-3 draw against Manchester City at home. Are the top football betting tips experts expecting Wolves to claim their first win of the season? Or are we going to witness another phenomenal performance from Newcastle?

Wolves

In their last Premier League outing, Wolves came back unrewarded from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Bruno Lage’s side rued missing the flurry of chances that fell in their way in the first half. Despite being the best team for most of the game, Wolves had to leave the pitch suffering a 1-0 defeat.

Raúl Jiménez’s return from injury will give the hosts hope of improving their attacking output. The Mexico international scored a goal in the midweek tie against Preston and will be looking forward to getting his Premier League tally going.

Chiquinho will be the only absentee for Wolves. Bruno Lage has a clean bill of health otherwise and would be looking forward to hand Raúl Jiménez his first Premier League start of the season.

Newcastle

Newcastle pushed reigning champions Manchester City to their limits in the three-all stalemate between the two sides. İlkay Gündoğan put City ahead in the fifth minute, indicating it’s going to be another routine away victory for the Citizens. But, the visitors were taken aback by the home team’s response as they fired in three goals to take a 3-1 lead. Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva levelled the tie afterwards, but Newcastle would still see this as a great result.

Under Eddie Howe, Newcastle have been a rejuvenated force. The deep pockets of the new ownership came as a big help, but it would be unfair not to credit the former Bournemouth tactician for the incredible progress the Magpies have made recently. The Tyneside outfit will draw inspiration from their Man City performance and come at the Molineux for all the spoils.

However, Newcastle will have concerns about their attacking threat as Callum Wilson went off injured in the Man City game, and new signing Alexander Isak might not be ready to start the game. Dan Burn also left the City game halfway through, but he might recover from his concussion in time to face Wolves. Emil Krafth suffered a knee injury in the midweek’s EFL Cup action. Ryan Fraser might also be out of contention after the forward picked up a groin injury in training.

Our Prediction

Wolves have to find a solution to their scoring problem if they are to claim anything from this game. Raúl Jiménez will come as a huge boost for their attack, but Newcastle have been quite solid at the back. They did not concede a single goal before playing Manchester City. So, the hosts might find it difficult to pick the locks of the Newcastle backline. The Magpies might not have their first choice striker at Molineux, but they can still nick a goal and return home with three points. We expect a 1-0 win for Newcastle.

Our Tip

Newcastle to win @ 2.77
