West Ham have finally arrested their slump and added the first points to the board after a 1-0 away win at Villa Park. Now David Moyes’s men would hope to build some momentum with another positive result on Wednesday night when they play host to fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspur.
West Ham United
Pablo Fornals scored the first goal of the season for West Ham united and led the Hammers to their first victory of the Premier League season. As boos kept ringing around the Villa Park aimed at the home manager Steven Gerrard, there was a contrasting sight in the away dugout. David Moyes was delighted to pick up the first points of the season and praised his team for their effort.
Now, West Ham will shift their focus to the London derby on Wednesday side that pairs the East London side with North London’s Tottenham Hotspur. The London Stadium crowd did not see their team in the last five Premier League matches. Moyes knows he needs to turn around West Ham’s home form to keep the club moving up the table. So, we expect West Ham to come out all guns blazing on Wednesday.
West Ham will be once again without their summer signing Nayef Aguerd, who went off injured in a pre-season friendly and is not expected back before the World Cup break. Aaron Cresswell, Craig Dawson, and Ben Johnson will be the other absentees for the home side.
Tottenham Hotspur
A Dean Henderson penalty save denied Harry Kane a hattrick, but his brace was enough to seal a 2-0 win for Tottenham Hotspur against a tenacious Nottingham Forest side. The home team made life difficult for Spurs, but Antonio Conte’s men overcame Forest’s resistance and came out on top.
The Lilywhites will find themselves on the road again as they travel to the London Stadium to take on West Ham. Tottenham are currently on a ten-match unbeaten streak in the Premier League, and they will expect that run to extend against a team which have been winless in front of their home fans in their last five Premier League matches.
Richarlison made an impactful appearance from the bench at the City Ground as he teed up Kane’s second goal. But, the Brazilian might be named on the bench again as Dejan Kulusevski continues to stun in the right wing. An adductor muscle injury will keep out Cristian Romero again. Even though Conte suggests the Argentine will be back sooner than expected, the West Ham match will be too soon for him. Lucas Moura, Oliver Skipp, and Bryan Gil will also be spectators.
Our Prediction
The first win of the season will significantly boost West Ham’s morale, but our top football betting tips experts believe we would be asking too much of the Hammers if we expect them to grind out a positive result against Spurs. We predict a 1-0 win for Spurs.
